Dario dario.
Dario dario, also known as the scarlet badis is an extremely small fish native to India. It tops out at about 0.75″, for a large male. Due to its small size, it requires very small foods. It is very hard to wean Dario dario onto live food, therefore baby brine shrimp is a necessity, at least to start. They will thrive in a planted tank, that provides them with plenty of hiding spaces. The male’s brilliant red coloration is counteracted by the very dull grey. Dario dario is a scatter spawner, and will eat it’s fry at first chance. Therefore, it is best to remove the parents once the fry are spotted. The fish for sale are about .25″ in length.
